Next to the text area find an icon with the shape of a small microphone; tap and hold this button to record audio. After recording, you can choose whether to send the audio by clicking on the arrow pointing up or delete it by clicking on the X. This voice message can be heard by tapping on the classic "Play" button. The messages can also be heard on devices running on iOS 7. 

Share with family

The new iOS8 has integrated the function called Family Sharing that lets you share music, movies, books and apps bought on iTunes. This means that if you bought a movie and your brother wants to see it, can simply download it from their account.  

  • Go to Settings> iCloud > Family
  • Tap on Get Started > Continue > Sign with your Apple ID
  • Agree to the terms and conditions > Tap Continue to confirm the payment method
  • Choose whether or not to share your location with this group
  • Tap on Add Family Member> Tap a name from a list of contacts to add them> You can add up to five members 
  • Once you add a member from the contact it will show a notification on their device asking them to join. When they accept , you’re done setting up your Family Sharing group

Once created the family, everyone can download the content of others. For example, you have to go to the app in the App Store> Updates> Purchased (or iTune Store> More> Purchased) and tap one from the list a family member. After waiting a few seconds, all sort of things downloaded from that person will show up an you just need to tap cloud icon next of an item to download it.
